Based in Bangalore, Balajothi Centre for the Disabled founded in 2004, is a non-profit wholly charitable registered trust, committed to serve the disabled and underprivileged, by providing rehabilitation, education / special education and vocational training to persons with all forms of physical and mental disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, speech impairment and multiple disabilities.
One of our aims is to spread awareness on disabilities through TV programs and awareness campaigns on regular basis. We bring together families with special children, provide counselling and training and motivate them to become self reliant, confident and useful individuals.
Our methodology consists of involving parents of challenged children in our daily training schedules to enable them to continue with the training at home and on holidays so that training is continuous and rate of improvement is comparatively faster.
We also maintain an ongoing counseling process with parents in order to sustain their interest and involvement in the continued training and rehabilitation of their disabled wards.
We have, with our past experience, found counseling can help parents overcome issues such as lack of motivation to follow the rehabilitation process, social stigma, difficulties in simultaneously raising a special child with other normal children, financial limitations etc.
